IT’S A SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OF ‘VICTORIAN’ SIZE

Take in the sights and sounds of the transformed Puyallup Fair & Events Center, 110 Ninth Ave. SW in Puyallup, at the opening of A Victorian Country Christmas. There will be vendors in traditional Victorian garb, roaming musicians, concerts and lots of holiday shopping. It runs today through Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today-Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7-$10; ages 5 and younger get in free; parking is free. For more details, go to avictorian countrychristmas.com.

UNIVERSITY CONCERT BAND PERFORMS IN A FREE CONCERT

Discover the talent of local student musicians as the University Concert Band from Pacific Lutheran University performs tonight in an 8 p.m. show.   • Award-winning environmentalist to speak at WWU

    BELLINGHAM - Environmentalist and activist David Suzuki will speak at Western Washington University Monday, May 6, as part of the university's Japan Week celebration.

    Suzuki's lecture is called "Time is Running Out: Ecology or Economics?" and will take place at noon at WWU's Performing Arts Center Concert Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.

    Suzuki has worked as a radio and television host, explaining natural sciences in an understandable way, and has written more than 50 books. He is currently a professor emeritus at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
