A Seattle-based glass entrepreneur will be in Tacoma next week in an event to benefit two local charities.
Lee Rhodes, founder of Glassybaby, will be at The Swiss Pub on Dec. 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rhodes founded Glassybaby about ten years ago, during one of her bouts with cancer, and now a portion of her company’s profits are donated to cancer-related charities.
Jenny Adams, diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was nine months old, never wanted to be defined by her limitations. On May 4, Gig Harbor will host its fifth annual Great Strides walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event is Adams’ doing, with the help of her longtime employer, and it’s a testament to her desire to not let her condition keep her down.
Evolution Irish Dance Troupe rehearsed Tuesday at Urban Grace Church in Tacoma for their performance in the Bia-Ceol-Damhsa, an evening of Irish food, music and dance to be held Saturday at St. Patrick School in Tacoma.
The fourth annual Knock My Socks Off 5-kilometer run in Gig Harbor was held Feb. 16. The event took place in large part because of the efforts of Gig Harbor High School senior Elise Saxon, who took over responsibility for several aspects of the run as part of her senior project.
