MONTESANO – It’s been three topsy-turvy, tug-at-your-heart-strings months around this town (population, 4,000), once one of logging hubs of the state.
West Highland United Methodist Church is offering a series of nine classes covering Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. The classes will be held weekly at 1:30 p.m. Sundays beginning Feb. 10.
Ramsey's Financial Peace series aims to give participants strategies on eliminating debt and accumulating wealth. For more information or to register, call Ed Branham at 585-3562.
Winter sports season is officially underway for the state's high schools, and last week, I finished up preview stories on the Gig Harbor High and Peninsula High basketball teams, which you can read in Wednesday's print issue of the Gateway.
A National Park Service certified trainer will teach a three-day class this month on interpretation. The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center is offering the class in collaboration with the park service.

Marc Blackburn, a certified trainer with the park service, will teach the class April 11-13. It will include two days of lectures and one day visiting Sacajawea State Park, McNary National Wildlife Refuge and the Whitman Mission National Historic Site, said a Hanford Reach news release.
