Rescued Puyallup barn owl released into wild

A barn owl rescued by firefighters last month was released Wednesday. The animal had been tangled in fishing line in a tree by the Puyallup River for several hours before Tacoma Fire crews rescued it.

    If you're an advocate for animals, then you might want to check out the Barn Owl Boot Camp this weekend in Richland.

    The camp, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Richland Community Center, will feature all sorts of educational activities for kids. Visitors can witness two redtail hawks being released into the wild.

    "Kids' activities are many," said Marilyn Hayes with Blue Mountain Wildlife.
