A Randle man was arrested Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting two teenaged girls on multiple occasions during the past three years.

David C. Haviland, 38, was charged with two counts of rape of a child in the second degree and three counts of rape of a child in the third degree Friday afternoon in Lewis County Superior Court. His bail was set at $250,000.

Court documents allege Haviland sexually assaulted two girls, one of whom was a female relative, the other, a friend of the relative. The relative recently began to tell her mother of the sexual abuse, according to court documents. The girl's mother contacted the Human Response Network, which notified law enforcement Thursday evening.

Police then contacted the victim, a 16-year-old female relative of Haviland's who lives in the same house as him, according to court documents. The victim told police that Haviland raped and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions since she was 13 years old.

The other girl, also 16 years old, who is not related to Haviland, was also contacted by police. She indicated to police that there may at least one additional victim, according to court documents.

Haviland was arrested and charged last May for second-degree rape, second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree assault and malicious mischief regarding an assault against a different woman, according to court documents. He eventually pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and third degree malicious mischief in relation to that case.
