Pierce County home sales and median prices rose in November, the second consecutive month in which both categories showed improvement, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service data released Wednesday.

Home sales increased nearly 11 percent to 841 units last month from 758 units from November 2011, the combined single-family residence and condo data show. Median prices rose, too, climbing 5.5 percent to $195,000 last month from $184,848 a year ago, the combined data show.

Although median prices rose last month, Pierce County still has one of the lowest median price points in the region, lower than median prices in King, Snohomish, Kitsap and Thurston counties. All had median price points of $220,000 or higher in November. The median price of a home in King County was $353,250 in November, the combined data show.

Also in the year-over-year November period: pending sales in Pierce County rose 8.4 percent to 1,136 units from 1,048 units; the number of homes for sale fell 32 percent to 3,239 units from 4,777 units; and the number of new homes listed last month fell to 877 units from 977 units.
