The Peninsula Community Chorus presents "Classics & Carols" at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 9, at Gig Harbor United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way.

The free concert includes selections from George Handel's "Judas Maccabaeus," Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," as well as additional holiday favorites.

  • Sandy Hook vigil, carols planned at Bellingham mall

    BELLINGHAM - A vigil honoring the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut is planned for Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22, in the Bellis Fair mall food court.

    Community members are invited to participate in the vigil, which will include Christmas carols and a Hearts of Hope art station where people can decorate a heart and send a message to the Newtown Congregational Church.

    Those interested can meet at 1 p.m. near the gift-wrapping station in the food court. The organizer, Kristi Anderson, will be wearing a red sweater and will hand out song sheets and ribbons in Sandy Hook's colors, green and white. Carols will begin at 2 p.m.

    The annual "Hark the Harbor" community caroling event will be held this Thursday, Dec. 6, at Skanskie Brothers Park in downtown Gig Harbor. The event starts at 7:30 p.m., and will be led by local musician Sharon Stearnes. The Argosy Christmas Ship, featuring Federal Way's Harmony Kings, is expected to arrive in the harbor around 8:30 p.m.
