The Bethel School Board will hold a public hearing Tuesday on a proposal to change attendance boundaries for secondary schools in the district.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the district office, 516 176th St. E., Spanaway.

Copies of the revised boundary maps are available on the district’s website, www.bethelsd.org.

District goals include a desire to even out school enrollment over the next five years, minimize the need to split neighborhoods between schools and maintain bus-route safety. The new boundaries are needed due to population growth and changes in grade configurations, district officials say.

This year, Bethel switched from a junior high to a middle school system.

Changes in school attendance boundaries would take effect at the start of the 2013-14 school year.
