A man shot and killed early Tuesday in Tacoma has been identified as 20-year-old Tristan Dillard.
The Kent man was one of two people shot in a car that crashed into a fence in a parking lot in the 6200 block of McKinley Avenue about 1 a.m. Dillard was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene; a woman in the car was shot in the buttocks.
The alleged shooter has not been arrested and is cooperating with detectives, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. Investigators are trying to determine whether the shooting was self-defense because Dillard also had a gun.
The shooting occurred while six friends were driving somebody home. It’s unclear what the argument leading up to the incident was about, but police said the involved parties had been drinking alcohol most of the day.
