Smoke alarms helped a Bonney Lake family escape their home early this morning as flames quickly spread from the garage, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue.
The blaze began about 4 a.m. at a three-story house in the 170600 block of 49th Street East. Investigators have not determined the cause.

Firefighters used oxygen to revive a Bonney Lake family's cat after an early morning house fire Thursday.
An early Friday morning fire at Cambridge Station Apartments at 215 S. Johnson in Kennewick damaged four units, according to Kennewick fire officials.
Quick action by firefighters saved a home in the Geneva area of Bellingham on Sunday morning, March 24.
Fire started in the chimney of the single-story, split-level home at 1090 Cedar Hills Ave., said Will Anderson, Whatcom County fire investigator. The sole occupant, a renter, was awakened by a smoke alarm and discovered the house was filled with smoke, Anderson said.
He ran outside and dialed 911 about 6:50 a.m. Sunday.
KUNA — Occupants of the one-story house at 671 Syrup Court were not home when a neighbor reported the fire just before 7 p.m. Monday, a Kuna fire official said Tuesday.
Firefighters contained the fire to a child’s bedroom in the house, but there was extensive smoke damage throughout. One of the family’s dogs died from smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
