The Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association's second annual Deck the Harbor contest enlisted 20 downtown businesses to decorate their windows for the holiday season, and its panel of judges has announced this year's winners. The winners in every category, presented with comments from the judges:

Best Window Display: Sophie’s Touch. A festive window, filled with Fido’s favorite gift items, and even a list for Santa Paws.

Best Storefront: Red Rooster Cafe. The Red Rooster display boasts lights in the trees, lights on the building in front and back, and even a rooster “Santa” coming down the chimney on the roof. This display is especially dazzling at night.

Best Painted Window: Java & Clay Cafe. A friendly snowman greets you with his Java & Clay coffee mug in hand! Lights on the building and lighted candy canes round out the night-time look.

Best Representation of Business: Spiro's Restaurant. Enjoy an Italian Christmas at Spiro’s – watch for Italian recipes and salt-dough pizzas in the window provided by all the employees. Be sure to read the scroll on the front door, and enjoy a pasta special with the colors of the Italian flag!

Best Use of Candlelight Theme:  El Pueblito. Lovely painted candles are highlighted by icicle lights and bells. Feliz Navidad!

Most Elegant:  A Lady’s and Gentleman’s Choice. A rich, vibrant display of red and snowflakes, featuring many lovely fashions from the store.

Best Christmas Scene: Bayside Books. A festive Christmas scene complete with Santa reading in a rocking chair by the tree makes you want to curl right up with a good book!

Best Themed Window: No Dearth of Books. Be sure to check out “Under the Sea,” complete with jelly fish and shells made out of pages of old books.

Best Interior – From the Outside Looking In: Abigail’s Concierge. A beautiful display of interior lights and vintage decorations. Looks beautiful both inside and out!

Photos of all the displays can be seen on the event's Facebook page. The public can still vote in the People's Choice part of the contest, which runs until Dec. 24. Voting takes place inside participating stores.
