RIVERS
Cowlitz: The fishing has been fair to good recently. With the water level high, fish close to the bank. Bait, eggs, yarn balls bobbers and jigs all are producing.
Green: People are catching a mix of steelhead and cutthroat trout near Flaming Geyser State Park. People are reporting have success fishing with pink worms or eggs.
Humptulips: People are catching a mix of coho and steelhead, and an occasional late but still bright chinook.
Olympic Coast: The steelhead action has been improving. The Bogachiel has been a good spot to try. Jigs under a float have been working well.
Satsop: Although rivers are a bit high, anglers are catching some coho here and on the Wynoochee and Humptulips. People also are catching some wild and hatchery steelhead. Jigs under a bobber, as well as sand shrimp and eggs all are working well.
Snoqualimie: The Big Eddy area has been producing a consistent number of steelhead each day. Most people are fishing floats and jigs or floats and bait.
Yakima: The mild weather has made for some good fishing. Streamers on sink-tip lines, midge pupa or stonefly nymphs on floating lines with indicators are working well. Look for the trout holding in slow water, moving about walking pace.
LAKES
Long: There was a report of some decent cutthroat trout action on this Kitsap County lake. The angler was using a purple woolly bugger and a white jig.
Munn: The lake is fishing very well these days. But the action has been mostly with chironomids fished under an indicator on a floating line. The best method is getting your fly 1-2 feet above the weeds, so try using a 12- to 15-foot leader.
Offut: Some limits of rainbow trout are still being caught. Pink and yellow Power Eggs fished on a 1- to 2-foot leader off the bottom has been the best set-up. Most of the fish are measuring 14-18 inches.
SALTWATER
Beaches: The current razor clam dig continues through Sunday. The low tide times and beaches that will be open are: Today, 8:01 p.m., -1.6 feet, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, Long Beach and Copalis; and Sunday, 8:47 p.m., -1.0 feet, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks and Long Beach. No digging is allowed before noon.
Fly-fishing: The Tacoma Narrows has been the hot spot for resident coho salmon. Some of the fish are measuring 17 inches long. The fishing has been very good at Titlow Park. Euphasid and baitfish patterns are working well.
North Sound: People are having some success catching smelt at Coronet Bay and Oak Harbor. Use a Gamakatsu No. 4 or 5 smelt herring jig with a one-half- to three-quarter-ounce sinker at the bottom. The limit is 10 pounds of smelt. There were more than 200 hatchery salmon weighed in during the recent Resurrection Salmon Derby. Bob Norling and Mark Shinman of Anacortes won the $10,000 with a 15.67-pound fish.
South Sound: The fishing for blackmouth remains very slow. Fishing in Marine Area 11 (Tacoma) will close at the end of the month. The squid action remains very good. People have been catching them off docks in Tacoma and Steilacoom, including some during the day.
