Even in a down season, Lakes High continues to send football players to play in college.

The latest is Marquin Russell, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior. The two-way standout at receiver and cornerback gave Montana an oral commitment over Idaho.

“I really enjoy the town. I like the people and atmosphere,” Russell said. “The thing that got me, everywhere I went, in every building I saw a football picture. It seems like the people knew we were football players, and they welcomed us.”

Russell, who was recruited as an athlete but will likely start out his college career at cornerback, caught 18 passes for 273 yards and a team-high four touchdowns last season at Lakes. He also intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown.
