PRESCOTT -- The Prescott Joint Park and Recreation district recently received a $54,000 grant from the Sherwood Trust of Walla Walla.
The district, which operates the Prescott Swimming Pool and Field View Park, will be able to use $44,000 of the grant for swimming pool improvements.
The remaining $10,000 will be used to develop a replacement reserve fund to replace aging and broken equipment at the pool and park, according to a news release.
The grant can't be used for operational costs of the swimming pool and park, according to a news release. The district's annual maintenance and operations levy will still be necessary for operational expenses.
This year's levy for $110,432 passed with a 64 percent positive vote, she said in a news release. Taxpayers would pay 45 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.
