D ec. 6 — A 50-year-old Gig Harbor man allegedly swerved to avoid a deer that was crossing the road. The man swerved, lost control of his vehicle and struck the embankment on the opposite side. The man was not injured, but his car rolled onto its side and blocked a lane of traffic for almost an hour. The deer, although reportedly frightened, also escaped injury. A Pierce County Sheriff’s deputy investigated the collision. Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be involved.
