LYNDEN — Hunter Hayes, the Country Music Association’s Best New Artist of 2012, is coming to next year’s Northwest Washington Fair.

Hayes, 21, will make his Lynden appearance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. The fair concert will come not long after he concludes a several-month tour as an opening act for country star Carrie Underwood.

Hayes wrote or co-wrote all songs on his self-titled debut album and plays all of the instruments heard on it. The album includes the hits "Somebody’s Heartbreak" and "Wanted."

He's up for three Grammys for best new artist, country solo performance and country album.

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at nwwafair.com. Price, which includes fair admission, is $38 reserved grandstand or $48 for preferred seats.

Hayes is the first grandstand act announced for the fair's Aug. 12-17 run in 2013.
