The family-owned North Tacoma Grocery Outlet is giving back to the Tacoma community at the holidays with a drawing to help needy families and individuals with a giveaway of $100 Grocery Outlet gift cards.
Firefighters who helped rescue Kaleb, a yellow lab that fell more than 200 feet down an embankment on Feb. 9, came by Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One’s Kimball Drive fire station last to visit.
KUNA — Occupants of the one-story house at 671 Syrup Court were not home when a neighbor reported the fire just before 7 p.m. Monday, a Kuna fire official said Tuesday.
Firefighters contained the fire to a child’s bedroom in the house, but there was extensive smoke damage throughout. One of the family’s dogs died from smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The state Christmas tree that adorns the Capitol Rotunda each year arrived Monday. The annual public tree lighting ceremony, sponsored by the Association of Washington Business, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.
When Jon Sybert told a friend he’d be spending his first Christmas after moving to Tacoma lying around watching football, his buddy wasn’t having it. Instead, he took Sybert along to volunteer at a Mexican restaurant serving holiday meals to those in need.
