Two state agencies are using an online survey to gather the public’s ideas for recreation opportunities on a state forest and two state wildlife areas in Central Washington.
The departments of Natural Resources and Fish and Wildlife are asking recreationists for their submissions by Jan. 4.
The 230,000-acre recreation area includes the DNR-managed Naneum Ridge State Forest along with Fish and Widlife-managed Colockum Wildlife Area and eastern portions of the L.T. Murray Wildlife Area in the Naneum Ridge to Columbia River, stretching north from Vantage toward Wenatchee and west toward Ellensburg.
The survey results will help a citizen-based planning committee develop draft recommendations to the agencies on sustainable recreation development in the area, said a news release from the agencies.
Stretching from Naneum Ridge to the Columbia River, the area attracts people from across the state for its unique ridges, pine forests and shrub-steppe landscapes that offer many recreation and wildlife viewing opportunities.

The survey asks questions to help determine how residents currently spend their time in the recreation area and what opportunities they would like to have .
