The “Renew Our Commitment – Yes on Prop 1” committee will host the first event at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 5 at the Metro Parks STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma.
Kids and families are welcome to attend.
The event will include free coffee and snacks, and yard signs will be available.
Parents and Friends for Tacoma Public Schools will host a community meeting, “Learn About How Our Schools are Funded,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A Tacoma Sister Cities student-leadership conference is set for Feb. 26, bringing together about 20 students from Tacoma high schools along with representatives from Tacoma’s 12 sister cities, the Office of the Mayor, the Tacoma World Trade Center, the Port of Tacoma and other interested organizations.
The Tacoma School District is continuing a series of open house events about the upcoming bond election. The school district will ask voters to approve a $500 million bond measure in a special election Feb. 12.
Evolution Irish Dance Troupe rehearsed Tuesday at Urban Grace Church in Tacoma for their performance in the Bia-Ceol-Damhsa, an evening of Irish food, music and dance to be held Saturday at St. Patrick School in Tacoma.
Eight students from four high schools will recite classical and contemporary poetry at the Southeastern Washington Poetry Out Loud contest.
The free event begins at 6 p.m. today in the Doris Roberts Gallery at the Richland Public Library, 955 Northgate Drive.
Participants won schoolwide competitions at Kamiakin, Kennewick, Kiona-Benton and Delta high schools to advance to the regional competition.
