Most businesses and services in Whatcom County are closed Christmas Day - including all major grocery stores and Walmart - but a few places will be open for those seeking coffee, a meal or some batteries for the kids' toys. Most gas stations with automated pumps will be open, but some requiring a clerk will be closed.
Of note, Whatcom Transportation Authority buses do not run on Christmas.
Here are businesses that responded to a solicit for places open at least part of Tuesday, Dec. 25. All are in Bellingham unless otherwise noted.

AW Asian Bistro, 12th and Mill streets in Fairhaven, open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Cruisin Coffee, 800 Alabama St., open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The coffee stand at Alabama and James streets near Trader Joe's is the only Cruisin in Whatcom County open Christmas Day.
Curry House, 2034 Main St., Ferndale, open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 360-312-8779.
Greene's Corner Market, intersection of Smith Road and Northwest Drive, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It's a small grocery with extensive beer and wine selections. Also serving coffee drinks, pizza, soups, salads and sandwiches. Coffee drive-thru open same hours. To order ahead, go to greenescorner.com for menu.
Guido's Italian Cuisine and Steak House, 5611 3rd St. in Ferndale, open 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a limited menu. Details: 360-656-6121.

I Wana Moka, 3100 Old Fairhaven Parkway, will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Lighthouse Bar & Grill, at Hotel Bellwether, One Bellwether Way, special holiday brunch from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and three-course dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. Reservations recommended; call 360-392-3200.
Market Buffet, Skagit Valley Casino Resort, off Interstate 5 at exit 236, Christmas dinner buffet served 2 to 9 p.m. for $16.50 with Rewards Card, $19.41 without.
Oboe Café, inside Best Western Lakeway Inn at 714 Lakeway Drive, open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breakfast menu served until 2 p.m., Christmas dinner served 2 to 9 p.m., with variety of meals ranging from $16 to $28. If attending Christmas dinner, call 360-671-1011 to check for space availability.
Shorty's Coffee Shop, a coffee drive-through at 5719 Barrett Road, across from Denny's in Ferndale, open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shots 2 Go, 119 E. Smith Road (behind the Chevron station), open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christmas special 16-ounce white chocolate peppermint mocha for $3.50.
Silver Reef Casino, 4876 Haxton Way near Ferndale, has its restaurants open. Red River Café is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a special holiday buffet from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for $25.95. The Steak House opens at noon, Panasia at 5 p.m. and Pizzanini will be open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
