A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death early Monday morning in Auburn, and a childhood friend was arrested in connection with his death.

Auburn police were called about 1 a.m. to the 4000 block of Auburn Way South to reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the 22-year-old unconscious and bleeding from a wound to his neck, Auburn police Cmdr. Mike Hirman said.

Officers attempted CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to King County Jail, Hirman said.

“Shortly before the stabbing, an argument took place between the suspect and victim,” Hirman said in a news release. “Information so far indicates that the victim and suspect have known one another since childhood.”
