When the 2012 cross country season ended at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course in November, there was no logical reason for the Gig Harbor boys and Peninsula girls to feel disappointed.
Both squads had earned third-place trophies in their classifications, but the celebrations were tempered. Gig Harbor wanted to repeat its championship efforts of 2011, while Peninsula was gunning for the first state title in school history.
Anything less wasn’t the same.
Wolfgang Beck and Logan Carroll earned medals for the Tides, while McKenzi Bravo and Sarah Manning did likewise for the Seahawks. All four runners can return in 2013.
