Through her diligence at the Tacoma Swim Club, Carolyn McCann developed into an extraordinary young swimmer, so good that she qualified for June’s U.S. Olympic Trials.
McCann had focused on club swimming up to that point, but she chose to compete for Gig Harbor High during the fall season.
She lived up to high expectations as she won the 100-yard breaststroke state title and placed second in the 200 individual medley in November. McCann also won two relay medals, making her part of 85 of her team’s 88 points in its 11th-place finish.
