D ec. 13 — A loss-prevention officer at Kohl’s called police to report a trio of shoplifting suspects who allegedly stole bluetooth speakers. An officer found the getaway car near the store and stopped the suspects. The driver denied the bluetooth theft, but the officer hadn’t mentioned what he was looking for. The driver was arrested for third-degree theft and for not having an ignition interlock device installed on his car from a previous DUI citation. The second man in the car had warrants for his arrest in Kitsap County. He was arrested and transported to the Kitsap County Jail. The car was secured and taken to the Gig Harbor Police Department to await a court-issued search warrant. The stolen items were recovered once the warrant was received. A small quantity of what was believed to be loose methamphetamine also was found in the car. Theft and drug charges may be added soon.
