The Bechtel National Planetarium at Columbia Basin College will be open for First Night Tri-Cities on Monday.
The $1.2 million planetarium opened earlier this month on the Pasco campus.
The 2,700-square-foot building includes three classrooms and a 30-foot-diameter dome. A multi-media system allows staff to project images of the night sky onto the inside surface of the planetarium dome.
Showings will be at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m. The 5 p.m. showing will be the animated feature, Zula Patrol. The final three showings at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. will be about black holes.
Admission is free with a First Night button. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
First Night tickets are $8 in advance for ages 13 and older and $5 for kids 6 to 12. Kids ages 5 and younger are free. Admission is $10 on the day of the event for ages 13 and older.
Admission buttons are available at Tri-City Yoke's Fresh Market stores, the Richland Community Center and Pasco City Hall.
