At No. 8 Cal 70, George Washington 43: Talia Caldwell had a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds to help the Golden Bears continue their best start in school history with a win over the Colonials (6-6).

Layshia Clarendon and Gennifer Brandon each added 12 points for Cal (10-1), which opens its Pacific-12 Conference season next week with three of the first four games against ranked teams — including No. 1 Stanford twice.

At No. 17 UCLA 77, Pepperdine 46: Nirra Fields scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Bruins (8-2) to a win over the Waves (3-8). In addition to her double-double, Fields had six assists and six steals.
