According to the Washington State Patrol, the man walked onto the highway around 9 p.m. and was struck by a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 45-year-old woman from Bremerton.

A Kennewick woman who lost control of her car and rolled it Monday morning was rescued by passersby as her car caught fire on Interstate 84 near Cascade Locks, said Oregon State Police.

A car traveled off state Route 302 and rolled one time down the embankment just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to police radio traffic. Pierce County Sheriff's Department Peninsula Detachment Deputy Dan Wulick was looking over the scene of the single car rollover accident in the Wauna curves Wednesday morning on the Key Peninsula. The male driver was the only occupant in the 2008 Subaru Outback passenger car when witnesses reported he lost control, over corrected, then left the roadway and rolled once over before crashing into a tree at the bottom of a 40 foot embankment. The man was able to self-extricate himself and walk to a Fire District 16 paramedic unit before being treated and transported to an area hospital with what appear to be minor injures. No alcohol or other factors appear to be in play. Washington State Patrol troopers are investigating the scene while tow operators try to figure out how to remove the car.
A 31-year-old man who led police on a high-speed chase through Kennewick and Richland will spend four years and nine months in prison.
Roman Henry Estrada of Kennewick was sentenced in Benton County Superior Court for his earlier guilty pleas to second-degree taking a vehicle without permission, attempting to elude police and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The pursuit started around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 13 after a Kennewick officer spotted the car near Fourth Avenue and Kent Street.
It was supposed to be a routine traffic stop, part of the Washington State Patrol’s “Click it or Ticket” emphasis.
