Reader salutes

A HUGE thank you to the lady eating at Panda Express in Tumwater recently. I left my purse hanging on a chair inside the restaurant and walked away. Forty-five minutes later I discovered it was missing. I hastily drove back to the restaurant and was told a nice lady had turned it in. She didn’t leave her name so I thought just maybe she might read The Olympian, and know how much I appreciate her thoughtfulness and will be forever grateful.

The VFW #318 Ladies Auxiliary gives thanks to the Lacey Womens’ Club and its individual members. Donations from the club itself and also individual member donations totaling $660 made it possible for the auxiliary to give the USO $410, and the Wounded Warrior Project $250. These are projects the VFW Ladies Auxiliary supports year-round. These donations are greatly appreciated by the auxiliary and by the recipients. Thank you, Ladies!

Sylvia Behrends, Secretary, VFW #318 Ladies Auxiliary

  • School staff at Irene Reither showed holiday spirit

I just wanted to share how the Irene Reither School made a wonderful Christmas for my son and his family. My grandson attends the school and if you are in need of help for Christmas they have the parents sign up and come in to the school. They give them presents for the kids along with a gift certificate for Christmas diner. Also, discounts to buy toys. They where treated so nice.

When they got home and told me with all their excitement it brought tears to my eyes. With the money brought in for the discount toys, the school donates the money to the food bank. There was a lady that took her time and money and made homemade blankets for the kids.

I just wanted to share this wonder school and the people behind it with everyone. They make what the holiday is all about. It made my family's Christmas.
