Larson has steadily improved throughout the course of his wrestling career, and that’s evident in his Mat Classic results — eighth as a sophomore 130-pounder, fourth as a junior 145-pounder.
Anything short of a state title come February will probably be a disappointment for Larson, who is now competing at 160. But in the most brutal of prep sports, he remains one of the most focused young men I’ve been around.
“I just need to work harder and go through my season, and take it one match at a time,” Larson said. “It should play out to my favor.”
