An Olympia man was arrested after police say he led officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen truck through Lacey and Olympia, heading the wrong way on Fourth Avenue and running stop signs.
A Lacey police officer spotted a Chevrolet Silverado at Martin Way and Galaxy Drive about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, said Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin.
Also according to Elwin’s account:
A Thurston County resident had reported the truck stolen. Deputies caught up with it near Martin Way East and Neil Street Northeast. When they tried to pull it over, the driver sped away.
The driver went west on Martin Way, reaching speeds up to 80 mph. The deputy managed to stop the truck in Olympia, again just south of the Log Cabin Road and Boulevard Road roundabout, at about 8:38 p.m.
The driver was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail on suspicion of possession of vehicle theft and felony eluding.
