The public is invited to open house sessions scheduled for next week as part of Benton County's Shoreline Master Program update process.

The sessions are Wednesday at the Benton PUD auditorium at 2721 W. 10th Ave. in Kennewick, and Thursday at the Benton PUD at 250 N. Gap Road in Prosser. Both are set to run from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Draft findings of the shoreline analysis report will be presented, and community members will be able to provide input on shoreline ecology, land use and public access, according to information from county planners.

The county is required to update its Shoreline Master Program for the Columbia and Yakima rivers in accordance with state law and "the visions and interests of our rural communities," the information said.
