Fox Island Nature Center will sponsor a free pubic lecture by University of Washington professor John Marzluff entitled “Gifts of the Crow” on Jan. 18 at Nichols Community Center, 690 9th Ave., Fox Island.
Marzluff, a professor at the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, has been studying crows for years and has written for many publications and several books on crows and their behavior.
The public, including children, are invited to attend.

Ramon Garcia was eastbound on Lakeway Drive at well over the posted 35 mph speed limit when his 1994 Honda Civic crossed into the opposing lane on a curve near Lowell Avenue, a Washington State Patrol accident report said. Garcia overcorrected and hit the pole facing west on the eastbound side of Lakeway Drive. Acquaintances said he went by the name Marcus.

The Pierce College-Puyallup Art Gallery will feature the wildlife and tribal portrait art of Becci Crowe for its winter exhibition, Feb. 4 through March 22. Crowe will premiere her new video, “New Adventures in Africa,” based on her trip in 2012 at 3 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Arts and Allied Health Theatre. Crowe’s desire to study her subjects in their natural environment has led her to six continents and more than 41 countries. The Fine Arts Gallery at Pierce College-Puyallup is located in the Arts and Allied Health Building, 1601 39th SE. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
