A drive-by shooting that resulted in eight arrests was retaliation for a drug deal that soured, Lakewood police said Tuesday.

No one was hurt in the shooting, which happened about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, but bullets hit a parked car and a house in the 8400 block of 99th Street Court Southwest, police said.

The victim had earlier met a group of people for a drug deal and fired a shot at their car after the deal went bad, police Lt. Chris Lawler said. He did not hit anyone, but a bullet struck their car’s trunk.

The group returned fire as they drove away.

“They fired shots at each other one other time as they passed each other on a street,” Lawler said.

Hours later, police said, the group decided to shoot up the victim’s house. A witness saw a car leave the home, and an officer found the vehicle in the Tillicum area. Eight people were arrested after fleeing from the car into an apartment complex.

The investigation also netted five weapons, some of which were stolen.
