A University Place man accused of threatening to shoot a nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center has pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony harassment, according to Pierce County prosecutors.

Bail was set Monday at $10,000 for Marcus Reed, 24.

Prosecutors said they intend to change one of the felony harassment charges into three separate counts to represent the number of victims.

According to charging documents:

Reed was drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana with two friends Sunday when one of them passed out and began foaming at the mouth. Reed and his friend drove the man to the hospital to get help.

The friends were “dissatisfied with the medical treatment” and Reed threatened to bring a gun back and shoot the nurse. His friend “decided to show his displeasure by destroying hospital property and proceeded to do so.”

Police responded and heard Reed make a second threat – to get a gun and shoot three security guards who were keeping him from going back into the hospital.
