Bushnell Trophy fog-proof and waterproof binoculars. (PETE ZIMOWSKY/pzimowsky@idahostatesman.com)

GLASSES-FRIENDLY BINOCULARS If you wear eye glasses, you have a constant battle with some binoculars. I had been fighting with binoculars all my life until I was given a pair of Bushnell Trophy binoculars.

The design of the binoculars with the extended eye relief is friendly for eye glasses. I have no trouble focusing immediately. I have several other pairs of binoculars where I have to take my glasses off to see through them clearly. It’s a pain, and there’s always a chance of misplacing your glasses.

The view through the Bushnell Trophy binoculars is bright and sharp. The light transmission makes for high-contrast images. The large center knob lets you adjust the focus easily, even with gloves on. Bushnell’s Trophy binoculars come with an armor coating and are waterproof and fogproof.

I know, I sound like an advertisement for Bushnell, but I’ve fought with binoculars so long and finally found a pair that work well, so I ended up buying a second pair. That way we have one pair in the house and one in the car.

Expect to pay from $150 to $225, depending on the model. Check them out at sporting goods stores or go to bushnell.com.
