Fly anglers can shake off the shack nasties Jan. 11-12 at Expo Idaho at 5610 Glenwood St. in Garden City.
Admission is $5 for ages 15 and older, and it runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The event features rows of fly tiers demonstrating a variety of styles and techniques, ranging from tiny dry flies to elaborately dressed Atlantic salmon flies. The tiers will be working throughout the show, and you can watch them work and ask questions.
Vendors from fly fishing manufacturers, fishing outfitters, boat manufacturers and more will be on hand as well.
You also can learn about local fly fishing businesses and clubs.
There will be a full schedule of seminars throughout the event from both national and local fly anglers.
World angler and warm-water fly fishing specialist Jeff Courier headlines the event, along with stillwater specialist Phil Rowley and Team USA Fly Fishing member Pete Erickson, a Boise angler.
Seminars will cover topics such as dry fly fishing in winter, tenkara fishing, carp fishing and saltwater fly fishing.
Idaho Outdoors editor Roger Phillips will host “The Art and Science of Nymph Angling” at noon Friday.
Presenters will demonstrate casting techniques and attendees will have a chance to show their skills at the popular “Casting for Dollars” game. You pay to take casts at a target on the water, and if you hit the target, you win prizes.
