The contract between Click and Fisher expired Jan. 1, and Click pulled all Fisher broadcasting, including KOMO-TV, from the air. Negotiations between the Seattle broadcaster and the Tacoma municipal cable network failed, settling into an impasse.
If only symbolically, Tacoma's City Council tonight will wade into the contractual standoff between the city-owned Click! cable television network and the corporate owners of KOMO TV.
Tacoma’s Click Network announced Friday that it has reached a settlement with Fisher Broadcasting, which means customers of the cable provider once again will be able to watch KOMO-TV and other Fisher channels.
The manager of Tacoma’s Click Cable TV alleged in an email last month that Fisher Communications unfairly withheld its broadcast signals from the network earlier this year as a way to force Click and its subscribers into paying higher fees.
The stalemate between Tacoma’s Click Network and Fisher Communications continues.
Some 22,000 Click Network subscribers might well need to go elsewhere than KOMO to view Tuesday’s Tournament of Roses Parade, Capital One Bowl and other programming.
