This column is being written for publication on Jan. 20, which means that somewhere north of 90 percent of the New Year’s resolutions made by readers have by now been abandoned or forgotten.
The 96-year-old man died in a University Place nursing home with no money. Authorities say it’s because his niece siphoned more than $400,000 from his bank accounts and stopped paying for his care.
Melanie Dressel has a mantra. Columbia Bank will be, she says, "the best community bank in every community Columbia serves."
