Kennewick police are investigating reports of gunshots fired early Saturday in the 500 block of East Eighth Place in Kennewick.
A concerned citizen alerted police just after 1 a.m. that someone was shooting a gun in front of their home.
The caller told police a dark-colored vehicle was driving slowly around the neighborhood, stopping at the intersection of East Eighth Place and Elm Street.
The caller also said a white car was parked in the driveway of a home in the 500 block of East Eighth Place, which is known gang members' home, police said.
Two men reportedly walked from the parked car to the middle of the street, then gestured toward the dark-colored vehicle, which stopped a short distance down the street, according to police.
Five to six shots reportedly were fired, and a bullet struck a home's kitchen window but did not enter the house.
No one was injured during the incident, police said.
Numerous subjects, some of whom are documented gang members, were contacted at the home, but they refused to cooperate with the investigation, police said.
Officers investigating the incident found numerous shell casings in the street.
4 arrested after chase
Kennewick police arrested four people early Saturday in connection with a gang-related disturbance on West 10th Avenue.
Police were called to the 1200 block of West 10th Avenue at 2:14 a.m. for reports that several gang members were trying to break into an apartment after the residents' son refused to smoke marijuana with the gang members.
Police found five people wearing suspected gang attire, who ran when officers showed up. Police caught four of them.
Arrested were Edgar Torres, 21, on a warrant and suspicion of obstruction; Abigail Stanley, 18, on suspicion of obstruction; Devonn Kinsey, 30, and Ernesto Castillo-Lopez, 21, both on suspicion of being felons in possession of firearms.
Torres was booked into the Franklin County jail. The rest were booked in Benton County, police said.
Ambush being probed
WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla police are investigating an incident late Friday in which shots were fired and two men were jumped by a dozen gang members.
Police were called to the 600 block of Chase Avenue at 11:54 p.m. after reports of a fight and shots fired. The incident began earlier, when two men were confronted by two other men while walking home and asked if they were gang members. The victims said they were not gang members and kept walking.
As the two victims crossed the street, they were approached again -- this time by 12 suspected gang members -- and asked if they were gang members, police said.
The two victims were surrounded by the other men, who proclaimed their own gang affiliation, then hit and kicked after being knocked to the ground. Several gunshots caused the gang members to run away, police said.
