The staff at Puget Sound Fly Co. is hosting an on-the-water spey-casting clinic led by Charles St. Pierre.

St. Pierre will discuss the equipment needed, various techniques and the general advantages of spey casting for fly anglers. He also will analyze and assist participants with their casting techniques.

A lifelong Washington resident, St. Pierre opened Northwest Speycasting in 1999 to teach the two-handed casting style.

The clinic will be from 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 9. The group will meet at the soccer fields off River Road near Puyallup, just west of Duris Cucumber Farm.

The fee for the class is $90. Contact the shop at 253-472-2420 to reserve a spot.
