A driver who reportedly crashed into two parked cars and then a light pole early Sunday died after the vehicle became engulfed in flames, according to Tacoma police.

A Tacoma police patrol car hit a light pole just before 11 p.m. tonight at the intersection of Center and South Tyler streets, after the officer driving swerved to avoid another vehicle while responding to a call, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
