$500M Tacoma school bond subject for series of open houses

The Tacoma School District is continuing a series of open house events about the upcoming bond election. The school district will ask voters to approve a $500 million bond measure in a special election Feb. 12.

The Tacoma School District is continuing a series of open house events about the upcoming bond election. The school district will ask voters to approve a $500 million bond measure in a special election Feb. 12.

Nights are:

Tonight: Mary Lyon Elementary School

Tuesday night: Arlington and Browns Point elementary schools

Wednesday night: Grant and Boze elementary schools

Thursday night: Science and Math Institute (SAMI)

Jan. 23: Washington-Hoyt Elementary School

All events start at 6 p.m., except at Browns Point and Boze elementaries, which begin at 5 p.m.

    Pasco School District officials were sighing with relief Wednesday night after a new Franklin County ballot tally showed the district's $46.8 million bond passing.

    Almost 62 percent of the more than 11,500 voters who returned ballots supported the bond. Bonds require at least 60 percent approval to pass.
