Shalom Ecumenical Center to celebrate 10th anniversary

Shalom Ecumenical Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary at 2 p.m. Jan. 29.

The center, founded in 2002, provides affordable housing for senior housing at Tri-Cities Terrace 1 Apartments, 1770 Leslie Road, Richland.

There will be a short program at the apartment building and refreshments will be served.

  • Tri-Cities Cancer Center director retiring

    Tri-Cities Cancer Center's executive director Thomas Cothran announced his retirement Wednesday after serving 7 1/2 years.

    "Tom grew services offered to cancer patients and the community in a way that will positively affect the health care of our region for years to come," Jeff Petersen, the cancer center board's chairman, said in a news release.

    During that time, the cancer center campus grew with the addition of the HAPO Medical Oncology wing, which houses Columbia Basin Hematology and Oncology. The center's library, the Ralph R. Peterson Cancer Resource Library, and its resource center also expanded.

  • Weinermobile set to visit Kennewick today

    The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be at the Kennewick Senior Center from noon to 1:30 p.m. today during the Senior Center's annual Valentine Bingo and Dessert Social.

    The 27-foot-long vehicle, used to promote the hot dog company, will be open to the public for tours and pictures. Free whistles will be given away.
