State Senator Bruce Dammeier, R-Puyallup, was officially sworn into office yesterday as senator for the 25th Legislative District. Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Charles Johnson administered the oath of office to Dammeier in the Senate Chamber.
Yesterday marked the first day of the 105-day legislative session.
“The first day of a new legislative session is always an exciting time,” Dammeier said. “I am honored to join the Senate during such a historical time for our state. The Majority Coalition Caucus offers an unprecedented concept in governing the Senate and I appreciate the priorities and principles set forth by its bipartisanship membership. They reflect what I have been hearing in my district.”
Dammeier serves as vice chairman of the new caucus as well as vice chair of the Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Health Care, Rules and Ways and Means committees.
“I am anxious to get to work and make the most of the 105 days we have before us,” Dammeier said. “My focus is on solutions to the critical issues facing our community and our state.”
