The newly minted Ada County commission is making organizational changes that unwind those made by previous commissioners.
The lawmakers also eliminated the $93,663-a-year director of the Department of Administration, which had been held by Rich Wright.
The commission moved the countys Solid Waste Management Department into the Operations Department, directed by Dave Logan. The Operations Department manages all county-owned buildings and facilities. Ted Hutchinson will continue to manage the landfill.
Theres a (landfill) director who does a good job, but who really doesnt have any help, said Commissioner Jim Tibbs. Being under operations will provide that additional help. It used to be that way, we just wanted to move it back again.
On Tuesday, the commission took direct control of several county divisions, including human resources, purchasing, employee benefits and risk management. These functions had been under Wrights Department of Administration, which was created by the previous commissioners.
