J an. 2 — A manager at a Safeway store discovered a male employee had illegally activated seven gift cards and used the cash value to trade acquaintances items, buy groceries, purchases at the Safeway gas station, and at the Starbucks inside at the market. The male employee admitted to the crimes and was cited for third-degree theft. He was also given a trespassing admonishment at the store.
