D ec. 25 — An unattended cooking pot on a homeowner’s stove started a fire in the kitchen cabinets at a home on Pioneer Way. The home was evacuated safely. The residence sustained about $75,000 in damage to the structure and kitchen.
Firefighters put out an accidental kitchen fire in the 5300 block of Stonegate Avenue Northeast, according to Tacoma Fire.
Tacoma firefighters are investigating a possible kitchen fire at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma that sent light smoke into two floors.
A kitchen fire reported by a passerby at 4:33 p.m. in the 500 block of 4th Avenue South in Kent has displaced two adults and two children, according to the Kent Fire Department.
Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to deliver lunches weekdays to seniors in Richland and for kitchen help in the Benton City area.

A new wood-fired pizza restaurant will open this spring on the Foss Waterway. The owners of Social Bar and Grill plan a May debut for their new project - Paesan Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant will operate in the same building as Social, in the street-facing space that until earlier this month housed Dock Street Sandwich Company.
