Boys basketball
Tied at 61 at the end of regulation, Eatonville and Cascade Christian headed into overtime. The Nisqually 1A rivals had each scored 4 points in overtime when Josh Bennett sank the winning 3-pointer with one second on the clock to secure Eatonville’s 68-65 victory. Bennett had 15 points for the Cruisers.
Preston White (11 points) gave Kentwood a one-point lead with five seconds remaining, but the lead didn’t last. Jefferson’s Danny Parks made a driving layup as time expired to give the Raiders the SPSL North league win. Deonte Anderson scored 18 points and Daryon James had 17 in Jefferson’s victory.
Emerald Ridge kept the score close with Todd Beamer in an SPSL South matchup, leaving the Titans with only a 4-point lead going into the fourth quarter. However, the Jaguars could not recover from Todd Beamer’s 6-point run earrly in the final quarter, and the Titans won, 57-46.
Dom Robinson and Andre Lewis each scored 11 points to help Curtis win take a 58-53 SPSL South victory over visiting Puyallup. Curtis improved to 10-1 in league and 14-1 overall.
Girls Basketball
Jordan McPhee led all scorers with 18 points and her sister Brittany McPhee added 14 to lift new No. 1-ranked Mount Rainier to a 55-37 home victory over SPSL North foe Tahoma. The Rams extended their undefeated record to 14-0 overall and 11-0 record in league play.
Bria Rice scored 20 points while adding 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in Todd Beamer’s decisive 58-16 SPSL South victory at home over Emerald Ridge. Quinessa Caylao-Do added 12 points for the Titans in the victory.
