Deputies have seized assault rifles from a 59-year-old Gig Harbor mans property next to Goodman Middle School after he allegedly shot at two custodians as they drove away from the school.
The man fired at the custodians about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after they had locked the school gates and hit the tire of one of their cars, Pierce County Sheriffs spokesman Ed Troyer said. He was still standing in the road when deputies arrived and took him into custody at gunpoint, Troyer said.
No one was injured, and no students were in danger, he said.
It was not clear why the man fired, Troyer said.
Deputies found assault weapons, magazines and many rounds of ammunition, some high-powered, on the mans property, Troyer said.
Authorities were still inventorying the weaponry Wednesday night and had not determined whether it was legally owned, Troyer said.
They had notified federal authorities about the weapons, he said.
