A 58-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday after crashing a truck into a Tacoma house and fleeing, police said.
The man was involved in two collisions with two different vehicles he’d borrowed from friends, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
His roommate told officers he didn’t drink alcohol but hadn’t been sleeping much, Cool said.
The man told police he didn’t remember the accidents.
The roommate told police the first accident happened about 7 p.m. Tuesday after she lent the man her car and he crashed it.
Hours later, after borrowing a friend’s truck, the man crashed it into a home in the 6800 block of South Cheyenne Street about 2:45 a.m. and drove off, Cool said. No one was hurt in the crash, which damaged a section of the home and the stairs.
Police were able to track the truck back to its owner, who told officers the man had borrowed the vehicle. Police went to the man’s home, where they talked to a neighbor who saw the man pulling a tarp over the truck. Police said a hubcap left at the scene matched the truck.
The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run.
